Payton Loves Priscilla
I received a phone call from Payton’s mom; she wanted to sign her son up for our True Buddy Sheep Club. She was concerned though, she said her son is petrified of any animals and she did not know if he would even be able to participate in the club, but it sounded like a lot of fun, so she wanted to give it a try!
When Payton first arrived on our first night of club, from the time he got out of their car he was scared. His mom gave him a little bit of time to just take it all in. Then she brought him over for a closer look. We decided to give him our one of our sweet bottle ewes from last year’s herd. Anna brought Priscilla over towards Payton very slowly.
Then they started to walk, Payton hands were very tense, and he was scared.
We asked Payton’s mom if Morgan could take over, pushing the wheel chair, so in the picture she is showing Morgan & Anna what to look for if he is too overwhelmed!
As you can see, Payton wants nothing to do with Priscilla.
The girls get started walking and on every lap, they would stop and offer the lead rope. We really weren’t excepting much for the first session with him. However, within about 15 minutes, Payton is holding onto the lead rope and is starting to relax and enjoy himself!
They are picking up Speed now and Payton is starting to get into this sheep walking!
First round done and by the looks of it I think we have a New True Buddy Sheep Club Member!
The barrel racing begins again; Payton and his Star Sheep Priscilla are winning this race!
Here is where the problem begins again, during this little pause the girls tell Payton, Priscilla is going to give him a big kiss! He is already starting to get apprehensive about the thought!
He does NOT want a Kiss!
Payton ended up staying for both True Buddy Sessions! The barrel racing went on for two hours! Everyone is worn out and Priscilla worked so hard, she needed a drink! There was only one person, that did not want this night to end….Payton was crying, he wanted to stay with Priscilla and trying to leave was not going so well. I remembered I had a calendar of the sheep in my car, which had Priscilla’s picture in it, once Payton had that in his hands, his mom was able to get them in the car to leave! What a Great Night!
A True Buddy Session #2
This is two weeks later and Payton can’t wait to get started! Payton’s dad even came this time, so he could see for himself, his son around the sheep!
This time Payton is having so much fun and he loves being entertained by Morgan!
Here we go again….Pucker Up! From here on out Payton would take Priscilla’s lead rope all by him self and pull her face over to his and give her ALL kinds of kisses!
The story does not end there; on the third True Buddy Sheep Club it was very hot. Payton’s parents thought he was worn out and needed to go home. He started to get really mad and started saying some words….MORE, MORE, MORE, NOW! So off they went again!
The next session we had was at our farm, when a former 4-Her came to work with the kids. Payton had so much fun walking Priscilla all over the farm and looking at the horses, chickens, cows and dogs! It appeared he was not afraid anymore! He was really enjoying himself! Then Morgan showed him how she rides the Buck and how Buddy will do tricks for candy. Payton got so anxious he was trying to push himself out of his wheelchair to join in the fun! I think he actually wanted to ride the Buck himself! Then he kept motioning to his mouth, for Morgan to give Buddy another Hot Tamale!
Sarpy County Fair 2009
The first night of the Sarpy County Fair, there was a practice session in the arena for the kids to get comfortable in the arena. We had so many kids show up, the arena was packed! Also, sharing the arena with us were all the show geese, which had been shown that day and were still in there cages. It was extremely noisy with lots of quacking going on! To our amazement Payton had no problems with this situation it was great! His mom also told us that Payton now has a computer board he can communicate with and what he always wants to do… is Be With Priscilla!
Payton showed his prize-winning ewe Saturday night at the First Annual True Buddy Sheep Show! His true buddies by his side and Priscilla right next to him!! What a Great sight it was…when the Judge could not make up his mind and awarded all the True Buddy Sheep Club Members with Grand Champion Ribbons, because THEY WERE ALL WINNERS!!!!!
Sarpy County Fair Kiddy Parade 2009
This year’s kiddy parade we did something a little bit different! Since the special needs kids are really no different, then all the other kids! Why not give them the opportunity to walk in the parade with all the other Sheep Club Members and chosen to be our lead person proudly wearing our parade number on his sleeve, is no other than

Payton`s Birthday On The Farm!
Payton’s 8th Bday Was Spent With The Love Of His Life
Payton’s mom emailed me to see if Payton could come spend his 8th birthday, at the farm this past weekend. She said there really is only one thing Payton wants for his birthday, is come see The LOVE Of His Life…Priscilla!!! Payton now has a communication board, that he tells his parents several times everyday, he want to go see Priscilla!
His mom is always so amazed to see him with the sheep and around the other farm animals, like the horses, chickens, cows, dogs and cats. This is from a boy, that before A True Buddy Sheep Club started, was petrified of ALL animals, but Priscilla helped change his mind!
He is telling us he wants to walk Priscilla more!

Payton’s second favorite things are his True Buddies from this year sheep club Morgan & Anna.
But they’re more True Buddies that LOVE Payton to!
The girls were giving Payton his cards & presents, but what Payton doesn’t know is that at the Sarpy County Fair a LITTLE present was giving to me to surprise Payton….and here she is
